Emergency Dentist in Bundall
If you need an emergency dentist in Bundall, call the practice as early in the day as you can and we will make every effort to see you the same day where possible. Dental emergencies come in many forms, from a chipped tooth or a lost filling through to a knocked-out tooth or facial swelling, and they are not always painful, which can make it hard to know how urgent a problem is. At Bundall Dental and Implants we treat emergencies as a priority and, where we can, fit you in quickly so the problem can be assessed and settled.
What to do if you have a dental emergency
The most useful first step is to call ahead. Letting our team know what has happened means we can prepare for your visit and reduce the time you spend waiting.
In many cases we can see you and carry out the emergency treatment on the day. In some cases the situation needs to be settled first, for example by managing pain or infection with medication, before the full treatment can be carried out safely. If you have already taken any pain relief, let us know what and how much when you arrive, as it affects how we treat you. Calling early gives you the best chance of prompt help.
Dental emergencies we help with
We see a wide range of urgent dental problems, and what happens next depends on the cause:
- a broken or chipped tooth, often repaired with bonding or a crown, depending on the damage
- a knocked-out tooth, which is time-critical and may be reinserted or replaced
- a lost filling or crown, which is repaired or replaced
- severe toothache or an abscess, which may need root canal treatment or, in some cases, an extraction
- a cracked tooth, sometimes from grinding, which may need a crown, root canal or a protective splint
- bleeding or swollen gums, which we assess for gum disease
If you are not sure whether your situation counts as an emergency, call us and we will help you work out how urgent it is. For step-by-step first aid to follow while you make your way in, see our guide to emergency dental care on the Gold Coast. Regular check-ups and cleans also help catch problems early, before they turn into emergencies.

Frequently Asked Questions
Over-the-counter pain relief, taken as directed, can ease a toothache for a while, but it treats the symptom rather than the cause. A toothache is usually a sign of something that needs attention, such as decay or an infection, and that will not clear up on its own. If the pain keeps returning, lasts more than a day or two, or comes with swelling, it is best to have it looked at so the underlying problem can be treated.
Yes. If you are nervous about emergency treatment, we offer oral sedation with tablets, and for more involved procedures, IV twilight sedation is available in the practice with a visiting anaesthetist. Let us know when you call so we can plan for it.
No. We see both existing and new patients for dental emergencies. If it is your first time with us, just tell us what has happened when you call and we will arrange the soonest suitable time.
The practice is open Monday to Thursday from 8 AM to 5PM, Fridays 8AM to 4PM, and Wednesday visits are best arranged by phone. If you call when we are closed, follow the voicemail prompts for how to get urgent help. For severe swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or a serious injury, go to a hospital emergency department.
It depends on your fund and level of cover, but if you hold extras cover with dental benefits, we can claim your rebate on the spot through HICAPS so you pay only the gap. We will go over any costs with you before any treatment beyond immediate relief.
